HTC A5 / Desire 8 to have seven color versions?

As we told you earlier this week, HTC’s upcoming Desire 8 seems to be codenamed A5. The handset’s existence was confirmed by HTC China, but official details on its availability and pricing are yet to be revealed.

According to @evleaks, the new smartphone should have five color versions: white, black, red, purple and yellow. We heard that there would be orange and cyan models, too, so that's a total of seven possible color versions.

@evleaks also reveals some alleged specs of the A5 / Desire 8, which are a bit more interesting than the previously rumored ones. Notably, the new device is supposed to have 1.5GB of RAM instead of 1GB, while its processor should be a quad-core Snapdragon 400 (MSM-8928) clocked at 1.6GHz, not at 1.2GHz.

That aside, we should expect the Desire 8 / A5 to feature a 5.5-inch 720p SuperLCD2 display, BoomSound speakers, 5MP front-facing camera, a 13MP rear camera on the back, 8GB of internal memory, and MicroSD card support. Android 4.4 KitKat with Sense 6.0 UI should be on board.

It’s said that HTC will launch the new Desire not just in Asia, but also in Europe and the US. AT&T and Sprint might sell the handset Stateside at some point, but there is no confirmation on this yet.

Hey PA, can you confirm if this phone will appear in MWC or will it come out the same time as the 'All New One'? Thanks!

Unfortunately, there's no way to confirm this at the moment. But it's probably safe to assume that this Desire will be available at about the same time as the New One.

I wish HTC will price it right but if they don't, no one will buy it.

Love the A5 design, specs and slim profile. 5.5 inches seems big for the Desire series of phones at their price point (below the One series). I could see this phone hitting post-paid US carriers in the $399 range. The A5 also seems to have a glossy finish as opposed to the matte, soft polycarbonate. Anyone else feel this is HTC's answer to the iPhone 5c?

this, does not look better than the new one. Need to go right on ahead and get your eyesight checked.
