HTC's 5G smartphone appears in official documents, on track for H2 2019 release
Despite the fact that it sold its mobile division to Google, HTC will continue to produce smartphones. We haven't heard anything from the Taiwanese company yet, but reports about a potential 5G smartphone that HTC plans to release in the second half of the year emerged back in January.

Well, it looks like the report was quite accurate since the folks at AndroidSoul spotted an HTC smartphone at the Bluetooth Launch Studio, the entity that approves all unreleased devices that include Bluetooth support.

The HTC product with model number 2Q6U was listed on April 20. We do not believe it's a coincidence that leakster Evan Blass stated not long ago that HTC is already working on a 5G smartphone with the same model number.

The official documents filed at Bluetooth Launch Studio are just a confirmation to these rumors. Sadly, aside from the fact that it's working on a 5G smartphone, the listing doesn't reveal anything about the phone's specs.

Moreover, if HTC does indeed plan to launch its 5G smartphone in the second half of the year, it will face fierce competition in the US where Samsung and LG will introduce their 5G handsets as well.
