New Gmail iOS app update adds iPhone X support, third-party email accounts

Slowly but surely, Google is updating all its iOS apps toproperly support Apple's iPhone X and its unusual 5.8inch Super Retina screen. The very latest Google-made app that's gained iPhone X support - thanks to anupdate released today, December 4 - is Gmail.

Weirdly, there's no mention of iPhone X support in the "What'sNew" notes of the updated Gmail app (version 5.0.171119). Nevertheless, ifyou're updating the application on an iPhone X, you'll notice that Gmail now makesuse of the handset's full display, including the right and left sides of itsnotch.

Alongside iPhone X support, the new Gmail update adds theability to use non-Google (third-party) email accounts - this is somethingthat's been available on Gmail for Android for years now.

In case you haven't updated the app yet, the latest Gmail for iOS can be downloaded on your Apple device from iTunes, via the source link below.
