Gingerbread for the LG Optimus 3D improves HSPA+ connectivity, brings 3D video editing and more
The Gingerbread update for the LG Optimus 3D is about to start rolling out in a few weeks, and an early ROM build that leaked on XDA Developers recently shows what owners of the smartphone should expect getting from the new software version. First of all, the update is expected to bring the Optimus 3D's Android version to 2.3.5, but that is just the tip of the iceberg. Faster 21Mbps HSPA+ connectivity and a 3D video editor are also in tow, along with a tool for converting 2D OpenGL-based video games to 3D. The bit rate for 3D HD videos has also been boosted to 12Mbps and the video stabilization feature now works in both 2D and 3D mode.

Unfortunately, those who have tested the ROM are saying that it is pretty unusable in its current form. Installing it is a pain in the neck and getting cellular data and Wi-Fi to work will likely be a challenge. Nevertheless, the official release of Gingerbread for the LG Optimus 3D is scheduled for November 21, so it is a much better idea patiently waiting for its launch rather than testing your nerdy skills.
