Samsung Galaxy S8 might get an external S Pen accessory
If Chinese leaks are to be believed, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8 could feature an S Pen as an external accessory. If this holds true, the new flagship will be the first of the Galaxy S series to have a stylus.

For now, this feature is reserved exclusively for Samsung's Galaxy Note series, but with the Galaxy Note 7 off the market, the South Korean company found itself without a phablet for loyal Note users to upgrade to. Adding an S Pen to the Galaxy S8 could prove to be the way to meet Note users' needs.

With rumored display sizes for the Galaxy S8 starting at 5.1” and going all the way up to 6.2”, a stylus would make sense. According to the Weibo source, it's unlikely that the S Pen will be integrated in the body of the Galaxy S8, and we're keen to agree, as this would conflict with the series' design up until now, and it will push the upcoming device more towards the Note line of Samsung smartphones.

Considering that we also got indirect confirmation that there will be a Galaxy Note 8 at some point next year, we assume that while Samsung wants to make up for the flopped Note 7, they won't let the Galaxy S8 trespass on Note territory too much.

Of course, considering the rumors that Samsung is testing multiple prototypes of the Galaxy S8, the stylus option could not make it to the market at all. For now, we can only wait and see.

May be Samsung is going to sell battery operating pen(bigger of course), that works with all touch screen devices of any brand. But not S-Pen for GS8 .
And the ignorant media makes fake ''news''.
The (non-battery) S-Pen can not work without special display.
Why should Samsung put such display on all GS8 phones when only few ppl would carry separate dongle-pen?
There is Note for them. Embedded S-Pen, with great anti-lost function
Do not listen ignorant media, that don't even know how S-Pen is functioning.

it's not like people are paying 6-700+ easy for them and the material cost is only around 250-$300. I doubt it would hurt them too much

I believe case makers like Spigen will come up with many models of their cases that can house a stylus in it. Simple, matter closed.

Agreed.
External S-Pen for GS8 is the dumbest thing EVER.
External S-Pen especially for phone is almost useless dongle. How to carry? Easy to be lost. And the most important: S-Pen doesn't work without SPECIAL display. Why? When who want S-Pen , Note is the best choice, and S-Pen is secured there.

More like Samsung is going to sell battery operating pen(bigger of course), that works with all touch screen devices of any brand. But not S-Pen.
Read it PA: NOT S-Pen.
And the news-hungry media made fake buzz of that.

"External S-Pen for GS8 is the dumbest thing EVER."

Why? An external stylus isn't any easier to be lost than other things you carry everyday.

My note 5 let's me know if I walk off with out my pen. So if the S8 has that feature then you should not get lost.
But not sure I believe this rumor.

Did you miss the part, that S-Pen needs special display to function?
Otherwise it will be battery operating pen, that has noting to do with S-Pen. It can work with any device, not only with GS8.
This, that the non-battery UNIQUE Samsung's S-Pen can be embedded, and with anti-lost(function) is just amazing, though.
Why someone would buy SG8 with heavy external pen - with additional battery pen(extra $) while can buy Note instead? Where is the sense?

Poor Samsung, heard the next iPhone will most likely have the Apple Pencil available as an accessory, and now has to scramble to offer the same. Just like the S8 will not have a headphone jack, it's a classic monkey (Samsung) see, monkey (Samsung) do.

Were you born yesterday that you revealed apple pencil? Do some research who introduced pen like features on a phone first. When you do study a bit more, you will realise that apple pencil was not first to use on tablets, but was first one that needs to recharge when you want to use it.

Post 11 was the dumbest post yet, considering Apple was against the stylus, and Samsung brought it back from the dead. The Apple Pencil, is Apples attempt to copy the S-Pen, and make the iPad Pro more useful. I know, I own a Pro and a Pencil. That troll gets more and more desperate for attention day by day.
