Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ named top smartphones on the market by Consumer Reports

Ths Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ are the current top smartphones money can buy, well ahead of all the competition, claims testing publication Consumer Reports.

Samsung's latest flagships have secured the two top spots on CR's list thanks to their beautiful design, great battery life, vibrant displays, and “stunning” cameras.

The outlet's findings, after rigorous testing, also indicate that the S8 and S8+ are among the toughest high-end smartphones, successfully passing a dunk tank test, which was last year failed by the rugged S7 Active. As far as all-glass, almost bezel-less, premium devices go, we can confirm that the newest from Samsung is more hard-boiled than we expected, as the S8 fared arguably better than the G6 in our recent drop test.

Despite mostly praising the new Galaxies, Consumer Reports also notes that it found the placement of the fingerprint sensor on both to be on the awkward side. The report says that, during their time with the phones, the testers found themselves “repeatedly poking around to locate it—and smudging the camera lens in the process.”

The Galaxy S8+ takes two top spot on CR's list of the best smartphones on the market, previously occupied by the Galaxy S7 edge (now at third place). The S8 comes at second, while the G6 and the iPhone 7 Plus occupy the fourth and fifth places, respectively.
