Fast charging smartphone series for next month teased by Xiaomi; MIUI 9 could see a November release

Xiaomi published a teaser today that appears to focus on a new smartphone series with fast charging capabilities. Besides showing a logo that relates to battery charging, the teaser includes a hashtag that reads #YourBestSelfie. As a result, we would imagine that the phone being teased will also feature something new with the front-facing selfie snapper that improves how selfies turn out.

According to Xiaomi, we should learn more about the new device(s) on November 2nd, which is a week from today. The company says that this smartphone series includes "something you have been impatiently waiting for." An intriguing statement to be sure. And Xiaomi plans on releasing a new teaser every day until the unveiling next Thursday.

Meanwhile, the Stable ROM version of Xiaomi's MIUI 9 skin for Android will reportedly be disseminated next month. Among the new features it brings to Xiaomi handsets is a brand new virtual assistant (Xiaomi Smart Assistant) to challenge Google Assistant, Siri and Alexa. MIUI 9 will also filter photos by keywords, and launch apps based on the content showing on the screen.

Since the summer, Xiaomi has released a closed beta of MIUI 9 every Tuesday and a public beta every Friday. However, this week Xiaomi has suspended the two beta releases which certainly seems like a sign that the Stable ROM version is ready for prime time. The devices expected to be compatible with the ROM include the following:
