BlackBerry Playbook 1.0.5 update offers in-app payments, updated Facebook, & more
Unlike the competition, RIM is taking a different approach when it comes to software updates for its new QNX based platform running on the BlackBerry PlayBook. Rather than waiting a long time to unleash a major software update, we’ve been seeing the Canadian company push out smaller ones that bring some goodies in a shorter period of time.

With that, version 1.0.5 of RIM’s BlackBerry PlayBook Tablet OS is now available for download, which brings forth a resounding set of new features and much more. Specifically, it’s bundles in the new Facebook app that was made available not too long ago, but it goes further by offering things like the ability to upload videos, message deletion, and Facebook search enhancements. Secondly, we now find support for in-app payments that brings along some dynamic new possibilities with the tablet.

Furthermore, there are a handful of other enhancements included with the update – like the option to charge the PlayBook when it’s completely powered off, modifying the brightness setting when you click on the battery indicator, and  a pop-up windows that gives you instant access to restart, turn off, or place the tablet into sleep mode.

Considering it’s over 300MB in size, you might want to make sure you have a reliable Wi-Fi connection to download it. All in all, it’s indeed nice, but we’re digging the quick actions that RIM is taking when it comes to releasing software updates with the PlayBook.
