BlackBerry Leap can be pre-ordered in U.S., U.K. and Germany, but not Canada

Last month, BlackBerry outed the BlackBerry Leap, an all-touch handset that is powered by the latest and greatest build of BlackBerry, 10.3.1. Just a few days ago we showed you an official video from BlackBerry that starred the Leap. As March came to an end, BlackBerry started accepting pre-orders for the device in the U.S., U.K. and Germany. For some reason, in its home country BlackBerry is not accepting pre-orders for the model.

In the U.S., the BlackBerry Leap is priced at $275. While the phone cannot be reserved in Canada, the manufacturer has put up a price of $349 (Canadian) on the ShopBlackBerry site. The difference in pricing has to do with the current foreign exchange rate.

So why can't the BlackBerry Leap be ordered in Canada? One theory is that Canadians will get the phone first and will skip the pre-order process. Another theory has the Canadian release of the device taking place shortly after its launch in other countries. Regardless of the reason why Canada was skipped over, BlackBerry does show the device as being in stock on its Canadian website even if elsewhere on the same site the device is listed as "coming soon."

To recap the specs on the BlackBerry Leap, the device comes with a 5-inch screen with resolution of 720 x 1280. Under the hood is a dual-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon 8960 CPU with the Adreno 225 GPU handling graphics. 2GB of RAM is inside along with 16GB of native storage. A 128GB capacity microSD is available for those requiring additional memory. Back and front-facing cameras weigh in at 8MP and 2MP respectively. The 2800mAh battery is larger than you would expect for a phone like the Leap, which should mean that you can look forward to all day battery life with this model.

As soon as BlackBerry announces its plans in Canada, we will pass it along to you. In the meantime, those in the U.S., U.K. and Germany can pre-order the phone from the ShopBlackBerry site in their country.

I don't think the average Canadian consumer will miss this device, I know I won't.

How can you use statcounter to give you any information on a device that has yet to be released and is only up for pre-orders?

This is not a joke!!! This is what happened when a company were so late to react to the change. Blackberry fired a lot of their engineer to make their balance book looks great. And without engineer, they can't compete on hardware, and must rely on making us believe that dual core S4 is good on optimized hardware.... That's the joke!!!

Can the superman BlackBerry fan explain why BlackBerry keeps putting this trash processor in new devices?

This coming from a guy that reps a company that puts out such stunning hardware as the Lumia 435.

it remains to be seen because its not later this year yet lol. its Microsoft bro so you know when they release their first flagship its going to be the best windows phone out at the time, it would be a shame if they released their first high end device with the Microsoft brand name on it and have it suck.

Of course it's going to be the best "Windows Phone" out, not too many OEM'S place stock in the Windows Phone platform. Those that due either put out low end Windows Phones or rehashed Android phones running Windows. The question is: will it sell well? History tells us the high end Windows Phones won't. I hope I'm wrong.

Who said we're arguing? This is a civil discussion. And I hope I am wrong. I'm a fan of Microsoft and Windows phone. I just don't think that Microsoft fans can afford to bash BlackBerry considering Microsoft's place in the smartphone market currently, and the hardware that they are currently putting out. If anything, Microsoft fans should be cheering BlackBerry on. Both BlackBerry and Microsoft offer fresh, relatively new OS's, and software that's optimized for the hardware so well, that their devices give flagship performances with lesser hardware. However, Microsoft suffers from the same public stigma that BlackBerry does. The majority of smartphone users get steered clear of Windows Phones in cell phone stores and the average Joe (and some smartphone users) have very little knowledge of Windows Phones. It's going to an all the way uphill battle for Microsoft.

arguing/civil discussion same thing. i have high hops for Microsoft and their windows phones. blackberry sucks and there os is definitely not new. I'm done bruh end of discussion I've said all i need to say.

Too many grammatical errors in your statement. You're done because you clearly don't even know how to use capital letters and are not mature enough to have a "civil discussion". If BlackBerry sucked so bad, why are you even posting on the article then? You just made yourself look like the rest of the pathetic individuals that troll BlackBerry. And I'm not your "bruh".

bruh our conversation isn't even about blackberry if anyone is a troll its you. and idk about grammar unless im writing/typing a essay. you brought up blackberry not me and i simply just stated that they suck lol and its true. bye bruh ill talk to you when you have something good to say.

If our conversation isn't about BlackBerry, THEN WHY DID YOU BRING BLACKBERRY UP? You just said, and I quote, "BlackBerry sucks". So who is the real troll here? It's gotta be you, dude. And considering that you were defending Windows right now, which isn't in too much better shape than BlackBerry market share wise, you're not qualified to say whether something sucks or not. Especially since I'm pretty sure you've never even used a BlackBerry 10 device before. And, considering that this is a BLACKBERRY article, they are already the topic at hand. But I digress.... Remember, I didn't start this "conversation" with you. You replied to me first. If you can't handle being put in your place, next time don't step up to the plate. Dude.

in your post #31 you brought up blackberry then i said it sucks because it does and we already had our windows conversation so i win and you lose. i haven't been put in my place because what you say is utter nonsense and what i have said is facts. blackberry sucks and Microsoft will release a flagship phone later this year. BTW i've used a blackberry passport but i've never owned a blackberry before. just go to sleep bruh its past your bedtime.

Dude, it's a BLACKBERRY ARTICLE. I also added BlackBerry into the conversation to point out how BlackBerry and Windows phones suffer from the same stigma. You then went on to troll BlackBerry with your comment of saying that they suck. BlackBerry offers far more features than Windows does, so if BlackBerry sucks, Windows Phones suck big time. What "facts" are you talking about? Have you seen a Windows 10 handset? Is there one out yet? Do enlighten us. Using a Passport in a store or messing around with a Passport that belongs to someone you know doesn't put you anywhere near qualified to talk logically about one. I OWN one and use it as my daily driver, for both professional and personal usage. You need to go back to sleep, dude. If you don't want to carry on with being made to look like a fool, then stop responding. It's that simple.

my grandma owns the passport and i live with her i've used it for a fair amount of time, enough time to decide if i liked it or not and i didn't like it. and its true that i haven't used a wp10 phone but ive watched videos and seen screen shots and it looks to be a big step up from wp8. we will just have to wait and see bruh.

Your "grandma" owns a Passport?? Yeah, right. NOW this "conversation" is definitely over. Dude.
