Best Buy to offer Apple Care+ starting next month, in time to cover the new models

Next month, around the week of September 14th, just after the unveiling of the Apple iPhone 6s and Apple iPhone 6s Plus (expected to take place on September 9th), Best Buy will officially begin offering Apple Care+ to iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch buyers. Previously, the big box retailer had been unwilling to offer Apple Care+, as it wanted to focus on its own in-house after purchase protection plan.

Those purchasing an Apple device at Best Buy will be covered by the retailer's standard warranty. Those adding Apple Care+ to the package will be able to service their device via Apple or Best Buy. With Apple Care+ for the iPhone, your warranty is extended to two years from the usual one year. In addition, you are covered for two incidents of accidental damage with a $79 co-pay for each incident. The price of Apple Care+ for the iPhone is $99. Your phone, battery, earphone and accessories are covered.

For the Apple iPad, Apple Care+ also costs $99 and extends the warranty to two years from one. It also covers two incidents of accidental damage with a co-pay of $49 for each incident. What is covered is your iPad, the battery, AirPorts, the USB cable and power adapter.

Apple Care+ is priced at $49 for the Apple Watch Sport, $69 for the Apple Watch and $1500 for the Apple Watch edition. For the Apple Watch Sport, your warranty is extended to two years with Apple Care+, and covers two incidents of accidental damage with a $69 co-pay for each incident. The terms are the same for the Apple Watch except that the co-pay is $79 for each incident of accidental damage. With the Apple Watch Edition, your warranty is extended for three years with coverage for two incidents of accidental damage. There is a $1000 co-pay for each of those incidents. Each of the plans cover the watch, the battery, magnetic charging cable and the adapter.

There are also various plans for those who purchase an Apple iPhone and an Apple Watch together.
