An emailed letter from Apple CEO Tim Cook sent on Monday to Apple employees, revealed that they will be allowed to purchase an Apple Watch Sport or Apple Watch at a 50% discount. Employees will be able to get a $500 discount off the gold Apple Watch Edition model. The discounts will be available from the April 10th start of pre-orders and will last for 90 days after availability. Cook mentioned that all employees will get a crack at buying a discounted Apple Watch, even those who have to wait for the device to roll out to their area. The Apple Watch Sport starts at $349 and the 18-Karat gold Apple Watch Edition is priced as high as $17,000.

According to Cook, over 1000 apps were submitted in the first four days that the App Store started accepting them, and the rate of submission has been rising. The executive also noted that tens of millions of people viewed the keynote and the demo videos put up by Apple. Just last weekend, Apple posted a series of four video tutorials for the Apple Watch.

Pre-orders for the Apple Watch begin in the U.S. on April 10th at 3:01am EDT (12:01am PDT). According to retail chief Angela Ahrendts, going to the Apple Store is a waste of time. If you want to reserve an Apple Watch, you need to do it online. Those who pre-order an Apple Watch on April 10th will be able to pick it up at their local brick and mortar Apple Store on April 24th.
