Apple releases four new video tutorials for the Apple Watch (UPDATE: tutorials now included)

27comments

A week from today, Apple will start accepting pre-orders for the Apple Watch. The timepiece becomes available three weeks from today. To show potential Apple Watch buyers what they can look forward to, Apple has produced four video tutorials that are titled "Welcome," "Digital Touch," "Faces," and "Messages." Future video tutorials are expected to focus on "Siri," "Maps," "Apple Pay," and other topics.

Apple also let it be known that all sales of the Apple Watch for the foreseeable future will be handled using a reservation system. This means that you won't be able to walk into an Apple Store on a whim, and walk out with the watch. You will be able to sign up for a fitting at your local Apple Store beginning on April 10th. The Apple Watch starts at $349 for the Sport version of the wearable and is priced as high as $17,000 for the gold premium Apple Watch Edition.

The tutorials reveal the simple gesture required to turn on the watch (simply lifting your wrist). You also learn how to change the face on the watch, allowing you to customize the timepiece. You can also learn how to send and receive messages without having to pull out your iPhone. There are parts of the tutorials that deal with the digital crown, which is a navigation tool that allows you to pick a friend from your friends list, select a "smart response" that automatically sends back a preset reply to an incoming message, allows you to return to the home screen and zoom in on an image.

You can check out the tutorials by clicking on the video slideshow below. If you are planning on buying the Apple Watch, the videos will make you tremble with excitement. If you're not planning on buying the timepiece, the tutorials might lessen your resolve.
