Apple's AirPower may finally be on its way as production reportedly commences
The AirPower charging mat is one of Apple’s most controversial products in recent history due to the company’s silence on its status. But now it seems as though it could finally be on the way.

After multiple delays and development issues, Hong Kong website ChargerLab has revealed (via MacRumors) that manufacturer Luxshare Precision, the company currently in charge of making AirPods and Apple’s USB-C cables, has finally kicked off AirPower production. This would suggest that previous reports of a release in the first quarter of 2019 were accurate.

To further back the whole situation up, the aforementioned publication cited a second industry source. According to this one, Pegatron will soon commence AirPower production too. More specifically, it seems devices will start rolling off the production line by January 21. This same source also revealed that the accessory features three separate layers of coil inside.

Going by this information, it seems likely that Apple will confirm the AirPower charging mat’s release at its annual March event. Here the company is also expected to announce its next-gen AirPods, an updated iPad, and a new iPad Mini. The Cupertino giant may also launch the wireless AirPods charging case, although information about this accessory is scarce.
