Android Oreo beta brings fast charging to Xiaomi Mi A1
It's always great when a software update adds a feature that makes your handset so much better. That is the case with the Xiaomi Mi A1. The Android Oreo closed beta that Xiaomi has the phone running on, apparently adds a fast charging feature that was not available with the version of the phone that launched with Android Nougat on board. One user, after installing the Android Oreo beta on his Mi A1, discovered that it takes only 92 minutes for the battery to go from 0% to 100%. Before the update, it took more than two-hours to do the same thing. One note of interest. This was accomplished using the Dash Charger that comes with the OnePlus 5T.

Android 8.0 features that work with the beta include picture-in-picture and smart text. The former allows you to watch video while you continue to work with apps running in the background. The latter allows you to tap on an address and automatically be prompted to open Google Maps. Or tap on a phone number and be prompted to use the dialer. The feature provides contextual buttons when you press on certain text.

Right now, there is no word on when the stable version of Android 8.0 will make its way to the Xiaomi Mi A1. It does seem that this might happen shortly.
