HTC today started updating three of its non-flagship smartphones to Android Lollipop: the
One E8, the
Desire EYE, and the
Butterfly S (which is a pretty old device, as it's been released almost two years ago, in mid 2013).
According to HTC ROM developer LlabTooFeR, the Desire EYE and Butterfly S are being updated to Lollipop in Taiwan, while the One E8 is getting the update in Hong Kong. Users in other regions will likely receive the update pretty soon, too, though for now we can't say exactly when it's going to happen. In any case, as
previously reported, all three devices are getting Android 5.0.2, not the slightly older 5.0 version. However, they won't get the new Sense 7 UI, at least not yet.
In the US, the One E8 is available via Sprint, while the Desire EYE is sold by AT&T, so the timing of the updates may vary. Another HTC handset that
should be updated to Lollipop starting this month is the mid-range
Desire 816.
