Android 7.0 Nougat update lands for the ZTE Axon 7, makes Daydream VR affordable
ZTE just announced that the Android 7.0 Nougat update for the Axon 7 will be pushed out today, and along with it will come Google's Daydream VR certification, as well as a special partnership with Hiya on caller recognition. The Axon 7 is one of the most sought after unlocked phones in the US, as it offers a great value for the money that ZTE is asking for it, and has garnered quite a few customers already, who will be delighted to learn that theirs will be one of the first handsets to get Nougat this side of Google's Pixel phones.

Needless to say, this comparatively rapid update schedule is due to the fact that the Axon 7 already runs on near-stock Android, and is not tangled in carrier offerings, which simplifies the process significantly. With Nougat you will now be able to run two apps in a split-screen mode, prolong standby battery life with the enhanced Doze mode, and, last but no least, gain access to a world of new emoji packs.

The other extra that Nougat brings is Google's Daydream VR certificate, making the Axon 7 one of the first non-Google phones to be able to take full advantage of Google's Daydream View virtual reality head gear for an immersive audio and visual experience without breaking the bank. The partnership with Hiya is also not one to stay on the backburner - the company is one of the leading providers of caller ID and phone spam protection, so your Axon 7 will now make you separate grain from chaff in caller identification much easier. Excited yet? Do tell in the comments, and cite what you liked the most in the new Nougat update for the Axon 7 when you get it.
