6.9-inch HTC Desire T7 tablet visits GFXBench, reveals specs
It appears that HTC is expanding its Desire brand to include tablets. The first HTC Desire tablet has a model number of HTC IV5001-A, but will be known as the HTC Desire T7 (T for tablet, 7 for 6.9-inch screen). Interestingly, the tablet appeared on the Zauba website last summer, with a value of $170 USD placed on the device.

Thanks to a visit to the GFXBench benchmark site, we just might have some of the HTC Desire T7's specs to pass along to you. The 6.9-inch screen features a 720 x 1280 resolution. The Spreadtrum SC8830 chipset is under the hood, carrying a quad-core 1.3GHz CPU and the Mali-400 MP2 GPU. 1GB of RAM is inside along with 16GB of native storage. Both rear and front-facing cameras weigh in at 5MP. This model is seemingly headed to emerging markets. With the Speadtrum chipset driving the tablet, we do not see it arriving in the U.S.

MWC 2016 kicks off in Barcelona on February 22nd and we could see the HTC Desire T7 making an appearance. Speaking about MWC, last week we told you not to expect the manufacturer's next flagship to make an appearance during the expo. According to well-placed sources, the original plan was for the HTC One M10 to greet the world at Barcelona, but the company has had problems choosing a specific design for its new flagship, and is now expected to unveil the phone in March. And the following month, we should see the HTC One M10 launched. The phone will be dust and waterproof (IP68), and should be powered by the Snapdragon 820 SoC. A 23MP rear-facing snapper is said to be aboard, with a 3000mAh battery keeping the lights on.

But we digress. It does appear that HTC is adding an affordable tablet to its lineup, and the Desire T7 could be introduced as soon as next month. Add the upcoming flagship phone and the rumored T50 and T55 Nexus handsets, and it looks as though HTC will be keeping itself quite busy in 2016.

Thanks for the tip!
