The heavily discounted Razer Phone 2 is eligible for an extra $250 freebie at Verizon
While Razer seems to have essentially thrown in the smartphone market towel after only two attempts to make hardcore gaming-focused mobile devices mainstream, that doesn't necessarily mean bargain hunters should give up on the company's sophomore handset effort. Quite on the contrary, as the Razer Phone 2 is currently available at a killer price of $500 from its manufacturer's official US e-store and authorized third-party retailers like Best Buy.

That's a whopping 300 bucks off a list price we didn't consider exaggerated in the first place, given the beastly phone's top-notch specifications. But believe it or not, you can actually save even more than that if you activate the Razer Phone 2 on Verizon. Big Red is one of three major carriers officially supporting the 5.7-incher, although the device is not physically up for grabs at the nation's largest wireless service provider.

You're obviously free to bring an unlocked Razer Phone 2 from Best Buy or any other place to Verizon, where you'll receive a complimentary $250 prepaid Mastercard with a new line of service and a number port-in from a different carrier. The special offer needs to be redeemed on a special website using the BYOD250 promo code, and you have 30 days from your activation to request the card, after which you may need to wait up to an additional 8 weeks to receive your super-sweet gift in the mail.

Last but not least, Verizon "reserves the right" to ask for its money back if you don't maintain your account in good standing for six months. That's not exactly a no-strings-attached deal, but taking Razer or Best Buy's outright discount and Big Red's freebie into consideration, you're looking at saving a crazy $550 here. That effectively brings the price of the Razer Phone 2 down to $250 with everything from a Snapdragon 845 processor to 8GB RAM, a 4,000 mAh battery, a beautiful 2560 x 1440 IGZO screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, and Android 9.0 Pie software on deck.

It doesn't really matter if you're into mobile gaming or not. This is an insanely powerful and versatile smartphone available at an unbelievable discount right now.
