Walmart's Straight Talk to offer Samsung Galaxy Precedent for under $150 with no contract
Share:
There is not much information on the phone, and no launch date is mentioned. Those interested can head to the sourcelink and register their email address to get notified when more news comes out. And don't forget to check out the video below, which shows that the Samsung Galaxy Precedent will have Swype pre-installed. Because Straight Talk is a TracPhone MVNO, and the latter uses the networks belonging to Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile, we''re not sure if the Samsung Galaxy Precedent is a CDMA or GSM phone. What we are sure of is that taking Walmart up on this offer can help keep your wallet fat and you free of commitment.

You can add another network to the ones that Straight Talk uses. If you look at the comments on Straight Talk's Facebook page, they have answered this phone will run on the Sprint network.

BEWARE! Straightalks Andriod is using the NEXTEL cmda network. Not even close to being the "largest" network. Lots of coverage "holes".

Just a few questions from a non technical person:
* Is this a decent phone overall?
* Can you name a couple pros/cons of going android?
* What happens to the phone and the $150 paid for it, if you decide you do not like the StraightTalk/Sprint service? Can you use this phone with another company/carrier.
Thank you for your help!

bradamanda your only half right. ST/TracFone has contracts with many providers to cover the US. ST/TF does have service contracts with Verizon, AT&T, T Mobile, Sprint and others. I posted a list on HoFo of those companies providing service for ST/TF and Sprint and T Mobile are on the list.

Just left Walmart in Ocala, they have the phone in stock, it IS on Sprints network, the sales rep was computer tech and knew what he was talking about; I passed on the phone only because sprint isnt a great carrier, coverage is marginal in outlying urban areas...I do have Strt Talk Nokia e5 on ATT network and it works great even in outlying areas, the web is little slow at times, and phone lags once in awhile, but its a good phone, good coverage as much as i do not like ATT....Strt Talk should get a Verizon droid phone if they wanna get more subscribers

I found that the best way to save money on your cell phone bill yet have a good quality phone, is to get a prepaid cell phone. With TracFone you can purchase an Android for the same low price as other TracFone phones but still have a modern phone. I just wonder if it runs the same as the original Android.

I have it, I love it. If you have an Android, this may be a bit slow or outdated for you. If you don't have a smartphone, this is a good, inexpensive starting point.
