Update to Skype for Android app brings two new features to make you more productive
An update to the Skype for Android app has started rolling out today, bringing with it a pair of new features that will make users more productive. With the update, you can now more easily schedule Skype calls with friends and family. While scheduling calls from Outlook is already possible, you can now schedule these calls on Outlook directly from the Skype app.

While looking through your Skype contacts list, tap on the person's name that you want to set up the call with. Click on the menu found at the upper right of the screen, and select 'Schedule a call.' You can also use another calendar app by creating an event and sending out the invitation.

The update also gives Android users the ability to open Office documents from the Skype chat window using the appropriate Office app. Such files include Word documents, PowerPoint presentations and Excel spreadsheets that you receive in 1:1. For example, let's say your pal sends you a Word document. Tap on it and it will open in Word for Android, assuming that you have Office apps installed on your Android device. If you don't, clicking on the file will bring up directions on how to download, install and open the apps.

If you already have Skype installed on your Android device, you can go to the Google Play Store and check under My apps and games to see if the update has arrived. If you don't have the Skype app on your Android phone or tablet, click on the sourcelink to install it.
