Upcoming Nokia flagships could still include Zeiss lens after all

HMD Global has recently unveiled its new lineup of Nokia-branded smartphones, which doesn't include a true flagship handset. However, it does include a feature-phone, the new Nokia 3310, which stole the show at Mobile World Congress last month.

While rumors about an upcoming Nokia-branded flagship continue to emerge, the Finnish company recently took it to Twitter to answer some questions coming from Nokia fans. One of these questions referred to the possibility of adding Zeiss optics into future smartphones.

As we reported to you last week, Nokia was pretty clear about that and said that it's no longer using Carl Zeiss technology. However, NPU has approached HMD Global in regards to the camera aspect, and the Finnish company had something else to say on the matter.

It looks like the tweet in question was referring to the current smartphone models, the Nokia 3, Nokia 5, and Nokia 6, which means HMD could borrow Zeiss lens technology for any of its future flagships.

Obviously, that doesn't mean that the next Nokia-branded high-end smartphone will include Zeiss lenses, but the possibility remains open, so fans can still hope the Lumia 1020 will have a predecessor in the Android ecosystem.
