The specs of Samsung's latest handset, Galaxy V Plus, scream "2011" like there's no tomorrow
As far as specs are concerned, the phone stays true to its entry-level status. It comes with a 4-inch TFT display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels, a dual-core chipset ticking at up to 1.2GHz, some 512MB of RAM, and 2GB of internal storage.
Fortunately, a microSD card slot (supporting microSD cards up to 64GB in size) is also a prominent part of the specs sheet, as microSD cards are still among the often-sought features of low-end smartphones.
We also have a 3MP camera at the back, complemented by a 0.3MP selfie shooter at the front of the Galaxy V Plus. In the meantime, we have a 1,500mAh battery at the back keeping the lights on.
The phone doesn't come with LTE connectivity (only 3G one is on board), but that was to be expected; we have two SIM card slots on board, though. Software-wise, it will be of no surprise that Samsung's TouchWiz UI is domineering the handset's interface. In this case, it's running atop Android 4.4 KitKat.
The new low-end handset will be sold in Malaysia, with little to no info about its availability in other regions. The expected price tag is $82; the entry-level trooper will be available in the classic black and white.
