Samsung announces full list of Galaxy devices that are compatible with its Gear and Fit wearables

Samsung announces full list of Galaxy devices that are compatible with its Gear and Fit wearables
In case you had any doubts regarding Samsung’s devices that are fully compatible with the new Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo and Gear Fit, the company today announced a complete list of compatible products. The list includes a total of 20 devices: 12 Galaxy smartphones, and 8 Galaxy tablets.

Of course, we already knew that some Galaxy smartphones and tablets were compatible with Samsung’s wearables (which, by the way, do not run Android: the Gear 2 smartwatches run Tizen, while the Gear Fit runs a simpler OS called Real Time OS, or RTOS). Nevertheless, it’s good to see a complete, official list.

So, here are the 12 smartphones that are compatible with the Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo, and Gear Fit:

  • Samsung Galaxy S5
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 3
  • Samsung Galaxy S4
  • Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini
  • Samsung Galaxy S4 Active
  • Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom
  • Samsung Galaxy Note II
  • Samsung Galaxy S3
  • Samsung Galaxy Grand 2
  • Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3
  • Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8
And here are the 8 tablets:

  • Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 edition)
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 7.0
You can see all the compatible devices in the slideshow below.

Oh, i thought the obstacle was the way notifications were handled prior to 4.3. shouldn't they be able to send the same update to the rest on 4.2.2?

As I read the obstacle was bluetooth low energy needed to pair the watch and the phone, and I read it's available on android 4.3 but Samsung sent me the update for the smartwatch but I'm still at 4.2.2 .. Yes you're right, there are tons of Samsungs running on 4.2,2 so it would be nice seeing those getting the compatibility update ..

all you have to do is sideload the apk to your phone and it will fully function as it would with the S5 or any other Galaxy phone. I saw a video of the fit working with a HTC M8.
