Purported Moto 360 follow-up codenamed "Smelt" leaks with higher resolution display
Last month, we saw an image of a new Motorola smartwatch being transported in a briefcase. It led us to various speculations of a possible successor to the famous timepiece heading our way, and it seems there might be more to this than mere guesswork.

Apparently, a "popular app developer" recently had an unknown Motorola-made Android Wear device connect to his Android developer console. The device was located in the city of Mundelein, which is near Motorola's Chicago, Illinois headquarters. Digging through the profile info revealed a device was codenamed "Smelt" and its Android Wear version was Android 5.1. The screen had a 360x360 resolution (get it?), and the processor running the show was described as 'armeabi-v7a', which we assume stands for ARM v7 CPU architecture with extended instructions support.

Furthermore, the "Smelt" codename asserts to molten metal, which suggest the purported Moto 360 sequel will be an all-metal smartwatch too. From looking at the previous photo, we don't expect any drastic redesign work, but Motorola certainly has room for improving the smartwatch's app performance, battery life, and build quality (the plastic back is prone to breaking), in addition to accomplishing a fully circular display this time around.
