Nokia has 41 reasons why you should buy the Nokia Lumia 1020
Nokia has 41 reasons why the Nokia Lumia 1020 should be your next smartphone. As you can imagine, most of the reasons have to do with the 41MP PureView camera on the back of the device. For example, the Optical Image Stabilization on board the camera brings blur-free pictures while dual capture gives you two images of each photograph you shoot. One lower resolution shot is for you to share on social networks while the other image is used to play around with (editing, special effects).

There are sill another 39 reasons left to try to convince you to make the switch from whatever phone you're currently using. In the U.S., the Nokia Lumia 1020 is an AT&T exclusive priced at $299.99 with a signed two year contract. If you're still undecided about the phone, you can take a look at the 41 reasons to buy it in the infograph below.

The gs4, or any other crappy android phone, don't even come close to the 1020. I'm sure you've seen a few $hitty camera comparisons on different tech sites portraying the Lumia range as nothing exceptional; What you won't see however, is the difference that a few adjustments to the camera's settings can make to the image quality of photos taken using a Lumia 920, 925, 928, and 1020. Small things like increasing the shutter speed in low light to compensate for camera shake (Something even top of the range DSLR's suffer from) and keeping the ISO at reasonable levels. Remember, "auto" may work fine on the gs4 and iphone, but it doesn't do a very good job when used on the Lumia range of advanced cameraphones.

1 reason why you should not buy it:

* It is a big phone, unless you're a 7-foot tall person, chances are you're going to operate it with both hands.

Then what about the Sony Xperia Z, the Samsung Galaxy S4, the LG Optimus G, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and the Huawei Ascend Mate? Big screens are the future .... Maybe you can try the iPhone5s? Personal preference's i guess again :)

Best regards!

Even though I hate Apple to the core of my bones, that's really my only option :(

Soon enough we'll have phones as big as they were on the 90s, without physical keyboard and slimmer though.

I'd love to buy the Xperia Z, it's stylish, classy, rugged but the ONLY disadvantage to me: cannot be used with just one hand.
The iPhone still can, and it's the only flagship that meets my criteria, so, I'll have to go with the greedy Apple.

you're sissy you know? My buddy who suffers from tetraplegia after motorcycle accident can use Lumia 920 so how a healthy, normal person can't?
I'm starting to believe that since android people's hands are getting smaller...or they're drifiting towards emo #ags.

He must like phones with huge screen, I don't. It's annoying to store on the pocket, it's annoying to use while walking, it's impossible to text while doing something else with one hand (at least there will be no more texting and driving) and if you're the macho, try making a phone call using a 10" tablet and put it on your ears like a normal phone and use it with one hand, you'll see what I'm talking about

I don't care what reasons they give. Bottom line, At&t exclusive and $299? Its not going to sell. Period. Unless one of those two change this will just be the awesome camera smartphone that no one bought. I hope not. Because this is the WP8 phone everyones been waiting for.

Blame at&t for that exclusive. If Nokia wants too succeed in sales instead of playing favorites n money should be on every carrier.

Why blame AT&T for the exclusive? Nokia was the one that agreed to give the exclusive. They could have passed. Instead, they passed on being able to market their phone to VZW, Sprint and T-Mo customers.

seems we have another dupe account, and its easy to figure as there is always a new account that appears to defend that ''Whoyton1''

your making it too obvious with your many different accounts. and you know who im on bout been one of them, this article and all nokia/wp articles show the real tragic fanboys.

P.A needs some real action against this android fanboy plague. the myth that android is for the more techie person is shown as bs because of your kind

ohh and you cant use your crap defense that people who like nokia hate android and are jealous because im currently using android now (still have my 808 as its still a beast)

anything to say?

"Android Fanboy Plague"? I honestly refuse to go into a WP8 vs Android discussion. Its severely redundant on this site at this point. I just respect everyones choices and opinions. Yours and his. Now... back to flashing this rom.

I would not mind Windows Phone, I mean hey, at least it's better than Symbian.

But this phone has a smaller sensor than 808, no ND filtre, shorter focal point, and couple of other things I forgot worse than 808.

Also 1020's algorithms are terrible, it takes very grainy, noisy and oversaturated images. And PureView oversampling does not produce images are smooth and noise free as 808, which could produce practically noise free images in good daylight.

If it has 1" sensor and was really better than 808 in every way, I would've been temped, but as it is now, no.

i went to at&t yesterday and played with the lumia 1020 for about 20 minutes. i brung my lumia 920 with me. i came away impressed with other things besides the camera. the camera of course was as advertised. the pictures were very detailed and the color representation to what my eye was seeing and what actually came out in the picture was accurate. the video's it took looked even better than lumia 920's video's. that surprised me. the screen on it although not 1080p was looked very good. having played with my lumia 920 alot and now this 1020 i have to say it's amoled screen is better than the lumia 920's. i didnt notice any ghosting when scrolling on the screen in the UI, web browser or apps. (amoled screen are known to have ghosting when scrolling like on my gs4). the lumia 1020 was noticeably lighter than the 920. to me the difference in numbers of the weight of the 2 are nothing but when you hold it in your hand you notice the difference. when taking a picture there was a 2 second pause (me and the sales rep timed it) for the camera to save the 38mp and 5mp picture. to me this is normal when saving a picture that big. all in i think nokia has a winner here.

i'm going to wait though for the gdr3. i'm hoping nokia does a 1080p screen (i've grown to like 1080p screen from my gs4) with quad core cpu and the 41mp pureview camera this christmas. that will be my christmas present.

I just check this phone has no microSD card slot you cannot store all your high resolution photos inside your phone but good for email and facebook albums.

the lumia 1020 has 32gb space. lets say you have 20gb left after the hard drive format and OS and apps and music etc. that's 20gb to have for high res images. the size of the images depends on how much detail is in the picture so they will vary. when i took pics with the lumia 1020 using 38mp pictures, the size varied from 30-50mb. that's alot of high res pictures you'd need to fill up 20gb. i think it will be just fine. keep in mind, most people wont keep the 38mp pics on their phone to share on social sites. they'll use the 5mp oversampled pic instead that retains alot of detail also.

with 20gb you could store 512 40Mb photos. Thats not that much.

selective reading i see. you missed this part:

"keep in mind, most people wont keep the 38mp pics on their phone to share on social sites. they'll use the 5mp oversampled pic instead that retains alot of detail also."

will be alot more than 512 photo's.
