Next build of Windows Phone 8.1 gets tested on benchmark site
The next build of Windows Phone 8.1 is already being tested. On benchmarking site WPBench, somebody has put up build number 8.10.14130 for Windows Phone 8.1. The OS build for the GDR3 version of Windows Phone 8.1 is 8.0.10532. The developer preview version of Windows Phone 8.1 is 8.10.12397.

The update, scheduled to take place as early as next month, will bring double height live tiles. Another new feature will be the inclusion of native folders.

The latest build for Windows Phone 8.1 was added to WPBench a bit over four days ago. The site shows that one person has tested the 8.10.14130 build on the site. According to mobile ad network AdDuplex, as of the end of last month, 7.7% of  active Windows Phone handsets were using Windows Phone 8.1. The update is available to those who have registered with Microsoft as a Windows Phone developer, or those who have purchased the Nokia Lumia 630 or Nokia Lumia 635. The eagerly anticipated Windows Phone 8.1 update comes pre-installed on those two models.

Wooooooooooooo!!!
Seems faster...
I hope they do major UI overhaul & good marketing. Also,i read somewhere that they should use rounded tiles instead of square one.
I think rounded tiles will look good.

No rounded tiles; a big no-no considering the design language...

One thing I can agree with is that when you have too many tiles which only have the accent color + a white icon they can blend together in a heaping mess. The reason why iOS is so successful is that when you're look at the app drawer, the icons are so distinct from each other that you have no trouble knowing which app is which. That can be a problem on Windows Phone.

I've been using WP for almost 4 years, and have never had any problem instantly identifying my icons (37 on the initial start page, 17 more by swiping up, all 170 by swiping left). Some are organized by function, some by frequency of use, some by color, all are quickly accessible.

Rounded tiles defeat the whole purpose of the modern design language.. That goes strictly against everything!....
..........
So, you're saying MS should back track and use the look that most engineers are abandoning in favor for the modern look that MS innovated?.... Think about what you're saying, dude.. Not going to happen.

Dude i said i was thinking it will look good lol.
I just wanna see WP grow. It's just awesome.Don't know why people don't seem to like Tiles. Most people I KNOW say that interface is nice,it's just that WP has less apps & developer support.

I see...
...........
Seriously, the only people that care so much about apps are other smartphone nerds online.. The average consumer doesn't really care that much, and this doesn't turn them away from WP... WP's app selection is perfectly adequate for most people...
......................
Do yourself a favor and don't listen to these trolls reasons why WP isn't growing at a faster rate... Do yourself a favor and listen to my reason.. "Poor Marketing, And Awareness"....
That is the ONLY reason why.. Not hardware. Not Software.. NOT APPS!... You can believe this, or not, but this is reality...

As others have said, there is absolutely nothing that is sexy with regards to iOS. I hate the fact that you must have every app, regardless of whether you use it or not, on your homescreen. Also, other than the number of alerts from each app, there is no information whatsoever available to you unless you open the app or check the notification panel. Heck, even the weather app can't show you the current temperature without opening it. Android goes a step further by allowing you to place apps and widgets on the homescreens but I just don't see it at being nearly as cohesive as the Windows Phone OS.

Wp ugly bathroom tiles are hideous and messy confusing

Drop down notification is the best.

IDK why it keeps trying to get my attention.. I don't talk to trolls AT ALL!
............
It's really annoying, and harassing... This dude just needs to know that I just don't like him at all... Doesn't PA have a way to block people you don't like?

Live Tiles are better than widgets or Icons. HTC one adopting tiles speaks to this. You can have your tiles as simple or complex as you like. Most would love to see WP drop so Android OEM'S can adopt more of it. Its basically jealousy.

Yeah, its been proven that WP really does have the best interface.....
..............
But, it doesn't really matter if only WP fans, and a few pathetic trolls, are the only ones that know, about WP....
...............
Marketing should be MS top priority... They are already doing everything else right..

The first paragraph is worded wrong... I think PA means that the build for GDR3 in WP8.0.....
...............
""The OS build for the GDR3 version of Windows Phone 8.1 is 8.0.10532."

I noticed that too; there is no GDR2, or 3 yet for WP8.1 (assuming that MS sticks with the GDR nomenclature for the upcoming releases.

We still have the Dolby digital 7.1 surround sound capture coming, which is a first on any smartphone... Go back and watch the last Build conference.. Pretty much everything mentioned there, that we don't have now, is a possibility.. Except the dynamic lock screen, which our devices are already ready for.

I think he means the dynamic lock screen?? Maybe... But, dynamic background images, or animations in the background on the start screen, would be cool.

But animations will look odd in that.
According to me it should be like you select an wallpaper and it adjusts to start screen & all apps list (think Windows 8.1) also instead of transparent tiles,we see the wallpaper through tiles (although a bit blurred). I hope you get what i meant & i think that it's gonna look great.

It depends on what dynamic background you choose.. It's all up to the user to make the WP start screen look the way they like.. Theirs endless possibilities with the tile system.. Background images, and animations would just add to the already highly customizable UI... That's the good thing about options.. If you don't want to use them then you don't have to.
