LG clocks up record smartphone sales and profit in the third quarter
The LG Mobile Communications Company, aka the folks that are behind the G3 flagship, moved the record-breaking for the company 16.8 million smartphones last quarter, which is a whopping 39% year-on-year increase, and 16% compared to the previous quarter. The mobile division clocked in $4.14 billion of revenue, with $163 million operating income, which are the highest numbers since 2009.

LG expects this momentum to continue, building on the success of the G and L series, despite the maniacal competition that is blooming in the industry right now. The company was the first to announce a dual-core and 3D-capable handsets, as well as the first brand-name maker to out a flagship with a Quad HD resolution display. It was also brave enough to rework its designs for more ergonomic usage, moving the lock and volume keys on the back, instead of following the sides tradition, so we are pretty hopeful that LG's momentum will continue indeed.
