LG India says it will update the LG G2 to Lollipop in the second quarter
A tweet sent out by LG India on Friday reveals that the LG G2 will be updated to Android 5.0 in the country some time next quarter. The Android 5.0 update includes the new Material Design, the 64-bit ART compiler to help apps open faster, and Project Volta to increase battery life. The update also includes the 'Recent Apps' menu, Lock Screen notifications, the ability to access the Quick Settings menu from any page and more.

Since this is coming directly from LG India, those with the former flagship model can pretty much expect the update to appear between April 1st and June 30th. Since the update has been a rather hefty one, we would recommend that when the notification arrives you hook up to a Wi-Fi network before downloading and installing it. You should also make sure that your battery is charged to at least 50%.

While the LG G3 is LG's current flagship (with the LG G4 to be unveiled possibly as soon as next month) the LG G2 is still a serviceable device with a 5.2-inch screen carrying a 1080 x 1920 resolution, powered by a quad-core 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 CPU. The Adreno 330 GPU handles graphics and 2GB of RAM is on board. A 13MP camera adorns the back and a 2.1MP camera handles selfies and video chats. A 3000mAh battery keeps the lights on.

Indian LG G2 owners should get their Android 5.0 update next quarter

No, just no. All that waiting for a buggy version :/ Please LG, give us 5.1 (or newer).

5.1 for G4 first, 5.0.2 for G2.
Sprint and D802 version first.

How do you know its a buggy version?
Many OEMs fixed all the bugs in their 5.0 builds
LG should have always since they took so long (hopefully, but software isn't LG's strong side)

That being said, IMO they should go straight to 5.1, since the changes between 5.0 to 5.1 are quite minor

Minor changes that you can see.

It has MAJOR improvements in multicore handling, over 50! mem leak fixes and almost everywhere little code fixing.

So you may not see anything new, as in new features, but its not a minor update.

And all companies that updated their phones to 5.0.x should update them to 5.1.

5.1 has no major improvement to multicore handling
I think you might be confused with the Nexus 6's new kernel, which now has all 4 cores on at all times and disabled Qualcomm's thread migration
That change is not to do with Android 5.1, its only the Nexus 6's kernel
Hence why only the Nexus 6 got it
The Nexus 5, 2012 Nexus 7, Nexus 10 didn't get that change (all devices have different kernels)

Many OEMs already fixed those memory leaks in their builds of 5.0, before Google released 5.1
In fact I wouldn't be surprised if Google received the fixes from the OEMs

Wish it would be 5.1 so that the late update is justified
