Gmail app for Android is locking users out of the inbox, fix is coming
Google has acknowledged that a bug is creating havoc with its mobile app for Android. On Thursday, Gmail app users complained about a flickering screen that locks them out of the inbox. Android Central spoke with Google about the situation and the company said that they "are in the process of fixing it." The complaints were all basically the same with the user unable to access his inbox. Some complained that the app kept refreshing.

Kudos to Google for being up-to-date with the problem and working on a fix so quickly. There are countless number of Gmail users who rely on the service every day and for many, downtime just cannot be tolerated. Google didn't say when the fix would be made available. Have any of our loyal readers run into this problem with the Gmail app today? What exactly were the problems that you were facing? Let us know by dropping us a comment in the box below.
Beginning this morning, we've received reports of a bug causing some Gmail users on Android to experience screen flickering when they open the app.  We are in the process of fixing it and the issue should be resolved shortly.  We apologize for any inconvenience.

I have been having problems. In my inbox it says I have 11 new mail but when I check in my inbox there is less than 11. This has been happening for the past 5 days. GOOGLE PLEASE FIX

I had that issue, but it only was for one of my gmail accounts (and I only have two synced to my phone) and it seems to work fine now, its only been a day and there hasn't been an update notification in Google Play yet

I don't think I'm having any problems with the Gmail app on my HTC Inspire 4G (stock). Seems to be working properly, and hopefully I won't encounter that problem...

I haven't had any problems with G-Mail on UK Evo Shift, but one of my friends has had problems with his. He can open the app but when he goes to open an e-mail the app closes then re-opens repeatedly until he hits the home button.

Sprint HTC EVO 3D seems to be fine, and I've used the app more than usual in the last several days.

Does anyone know the version number of the affected app?

No problem here; HTC Thunderbolt running 2.3.4 and Gmail App 2.3.5.2
