Asus Padfone X to be released by AT&T
It looks like AT&T will launch the Asus Padfone X, a new hybrid device that hasn’t been announced yet. We first heard of the Padfone X in December, thanks to a leaked benchmark. Now, @evleaks says that AT&T’s version of it should be revealed today (January 6) - which makes sense, since Asus is getting ready to hold a press conference later today at CES 2014 in Las Vegas.

Like the older generation Padfones introduced by Asus, the Padfone X consists of a smartphone and a tablet dock. According to previous rumors, it runs Android 4.4 KitKat, featuring a quad-core Snapdragon 800 MSM-8974AB processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory (likely expandable), and a 5MP rear camera. Its tablet dock seems to have a display with 1920 x 1200 pixels. There’s no word on what size the screen of the Padfone X smartphone is, but it may be around 5 inches.

@evleaks doesn’t say exactly when AT&T expects to start selling the Asus Padfone X. Details on its price also remain a mystery for now.

Asus will likely announce the Padfone X alongside a few other new products, possibly including a dual-boot Transformer. We’ll let you know more when everything is officially confirmed.
