LG Cookie Style Review
This is a global GSM phone. It can be used with AT&T and T-Mobile USA.

The LG T310 will be named LG Cookie Style in Europe, and, as the name suggests, it is coming in a variety of different color combinations - Black/Red, White/Orange, Black/Titan Silver, and Pink/White. It is not called Cookie Style for nothing – the rounded shape is appealing, and makes it very comfortable to hold. The phone sports a 2.8” resistive touchscreen with QVGA resolution, and three physical buttons underneath it. The camera on the back is 2MP, without a flash. Traveling around the phone we discover a standard audio jack plus a lock/power button on the top, and a volume rocker on the right. The left side hosts the microUSB port with protective cover, while the microSD slot inside takes a maximum of 4GB cards.

You can compare the LG Cookie Style with many other phones using our Size Visualization Tool.

Interface and Features:

The resistive screen is fairly responsive, and there are three hardware buttons underneathit – send and end keys, plus a back button in their middle. The userinterface is the same as on the LG Cookie Lite, even the default themeis the same cartoonish one, out of the two available. There are fourshortcuts on a dock at the bottom of the first home screen – forentering the dialer, phonebook, messaging and the menu. There is also apullout menu, containing nine slots for your favorite contacts withpictures. The second homescreen, accessed by swiping in any direction, contains shortcuts to the multimedia and social networking applicationson the LG Cookie Style by default, and can be populated with up to ninewidgets, such as weather update or a music player.

The dialer issimple, and has two tabs – one towards your phonebook, and one towardsthe call logs, which includes your communications history, as well ascall and data duration counters at the bottom, a very handycombination. Messages and email don't appear in threaded view, butrather as a list, and there are two types of text input – portraitnumber keypad and handwriting recognition, which helps  with inputtingChinese characters. The keyboard supports numerous languages andsymbols, depending on the region the phone is sold at. The calendar hasmonthly and daily views and the alarm allows for numerous settings, including a memo.

Thedefault browser of the LG Cookie Style has some nice features like RSSfeeds subscription and text search, and if you feel the urge forsomething else, there is Opera Mini 5 at your disposal, which will beinstalled on first use. The handset has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and FM radio, but doesn’t include 3G connectivity, so you will be browsing at EDGEspeeds.

Most basic productivity applications arecovered out of the box, such as a file browser, Google Search app, unitconverter, voice recorder, and even date counter. The trendy featurephone offers a Java-based SNS app, covering Facebook, Myspace andTwitter. Microsoft Messenger is the chat program of choice, and thethree preinstalled game titles are trial versions.

Themultimedia software offers all the basic functionalities we’ve come toexpect from feature phones nowadays, and even some more. The camera interface iseasy to use, and offers different shooting modes, scenes andadjustments – not that it helps the LG Cookie Style take betterpictures. The snaps turn out very unfocused, with inaccurate colors andlacking detail, even for a 2MP camera. Video capture produces clipswith lowly QCIF resolution at 15fps, but they don't look half-decenteven on the phone's screen, let alone a bigger one.

Themusic player supports album sorting by playlists, artists, albums andeven genres, but the built-in loudspeaker produces tinny sounds. In thegallery you can edit photos, add drawings or text easily, which is avery welcome functionality. Entering text in image edit mode calls thelandscape keyboard, since the gallery itself appears in a landscapemode.

Performance and Conclusion:

The earspaker has a decent volume, but the voices come outwith an echo to them. In contrast, the other party said we sound fine, but the output was a bit low. The 900mAh battery is rated for 8 hoursof talk time.

The LG Cookie Style is a pretty feature phone, theincluded software on which offers a complete set of most functions weuse on a daily basis. The handset is lacking 3G, but hopefully theprice will make up for it. Samsung Corby has similar specs and functionality, but the LG Cookie Style has a more appealing design.
