I work for cingular and this is one of my favorit phones lg made some crap phones but this one seems to be one of the better they are getting better daily with their technology due to they are the new kids in the phone industry.
I love the LG F9100 it does everything that it is expected to do. I get great reception. I could not have ask for a better phone for the price I paid.
I recently traded my Nextel for my friend's LG F9100 and I must admit that it is a nifty phone. There are a lot of features that "tickle my pickle" but the one thing I am not so fond of is the phone not having speakerphone! I activated the phone so that it could speak the numbers that I press which comes out of the rear speaker, so why not have speakerphone for during calls =(. Other than the speakerphone dilemma I am sure everyone is not so fancied about, the keys are also very small and very hard to press (I prefer using the keyboard for the numbers rather than the number keypad itself). I am happy that there is not the 9200 but why get that when I just got this phone less than a week ago. Sure it's an instant messaging phone but when I log into my screename, only 20 or 30 of them appear out of my 250 on my buddylist! Though this phone may appear very sleek and has a lot of features, it could definitely use more!
This phone's keyboard needs to be unlocked so that it works in all modes, for all aspects. The "Keyboard not supported" error really sours the feature rating.
There is no option on the phone to save to SIM, so moving the chip to another phone like the Sidekick 3 or Motorola A630 moves the phonebook. Nothing is saved to the SIM on this phone.
I tried to use AIM, Yahoo Messenger. or ICQ, but it seems to be using these services through WAP, or it has a forced command to ping the WAP gateway, possibly to check the software version, before allowing the use through SMS. This is another downer, for those with pre-paid access - pre-paid access does not have WAP service included. This is for the LG Messaging Client 1.4b.04 build 1130a
It looks nice, yes, but it should allow the keyboard use in all modes, and have the messing client not require the WAP check.
I purchased this phone (black model) about a week ago and so far so good. I love the sleek black finish and most of all the pull-out keyboard (though kepboard has limited use). The keyboard makes sending text-messages breeze. The menus are easy to maneuver because of so many multi-functional keys and adding contacts to your address book is fun and easy. The screen is perfect in size and the graphic capabilites are good. The keypad buttons are small but finger friendly unlike some other phones. The down-side is that the phone does not have a speaker-phone which in my opinion is an important feature. It's a bit heavier than previous phones I've had (I guess due to the pull-out keypad) and the preset ringtones and alert tones (no volume setting for alerts) are not very impressive. On the brighter side you can always import your own ringtones. You can definitely have fun with this phone!
relatively decent phone - no keyboard support for wireless internet is a huge negative and no speakerphone is an issue - but overall not worth taking it back to get a different type of phone - it has a solid feel to it, good sound, and the keyboard is really nice when text messaging or IM'ing, as I have acrylic nails and trying to text with phone buttons drives me batty
I love every features for $200. The purpose which I took, I wanted to manage my calander and appointments through keyboard. I coudn't that that's the only problem.
NEW! LG F9100
It would of helped if they would explain things about the deaf people and that they can use for tty or whatever. I do like the product of the phone. But, wished they had speakerphone. If you have any more informations, please contact me at Dolphinsister18@yahoo.com
Thanks,
S
It's everything it's cracked up to be as far as IM is concerned, but there is a BIG problem with the phone.
The keyboard ONLY works in IM mode and "add user" (like, to your phone list). The keybord DOES NOT work when trying to make a calendar event, nor does it work when you want to write a memo. WTF is up with that? And worst of all, the keyboard does not work when on the Wireless Internet. I was looking forward to being able to use yahoo wap email with a qwerty keyboard, but this thing just gives you a "close slide" message as soon as you open it. What were these people thinking?!?!
The phone is great overall, only things i wish it had was a camera and speakerphone. Few things that they need to do: Enable the full keyboard support while browsing web on the phone because right now it only allows u to use the numpad witch is very un-convinient, also want to get rid of that cingular text on the main screen if anyone knows how mail me carbon@infowire.org, space bar and enter key are too close to each other i accidentally send stuff instead of a space
your specs say that there's a speaker phone on this phone well where is it??????? i have read the book from cover to cover and still can't find the dang thing...how about that???? i go the phone because of this feature on your website but where is it????if sopmeone knows let me know
This phone is so awesome. I love media net. It's the best. The keyboard is so ez to use and the phone itself is extremely simple to navigate. My previous phone was a nokia1100b, and of course the LGF9100 is obviously so much better. One of the main things I disliked was the battery life isn't very good. The other thing was that when you start up a game there's always sound at first. You can turn it off once you reach the game's menu, but if you leave the game and then reload it, the sound's automatically back. Other than that I luv the LG f9100 and have had no other problems with it!
