Costco got the ball rolling last week, Kohl’s joined the party earlier today, and now Target is here to obliterate the competition in terms of Black Friday 2018 generosity. At least until Best Buy and Walmart follow suit with their own holiday shopping madness previews.
Of course, Target is not merely giving us a taste of what’s to come on Thanksgiving Day, November 22, revealing its entire list of killer Black Friday deals. This is unbelievably lengthy, including items other retailers are also preparing to mark down, like the latest 9.7-inch iPad, a number of Amazon Echo and Google Home smart speakers, as well as the popular Fitbit Versa smartwatch.
But there’s a bunch of stuff you may not have expected to see discounted so quickly and so deeply too. First and foremost, Apple’s hot new iPhone XS and XS Max. Before you get too excited, keep in mind you’re (obviously) not looking at outright savings there.
Instead, “qualified” Verizon, Sprint, and AT&T activations will automatically net you a free $250 gift card. That’s certainly something you can use later at Target, perhaps to get some accessories for your precious new iPhone XS or even the aforementioned entry-level iPad.
Oddly enough, the older and humbler iPhone 8, 8 Plus, and iPhone X will only be offered alongside complimentary $150 coupons with Verizon, Sprint, or AT&T activations. Meanwhile, Android enthusiasts looking for arguably the best high-end option (available in the US) should be happy to hear the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 will be sold bundled with a gratis $300 voucher between Friday and Sunday, November 23 through 25, for well-qualified Verizon and AT&T customers.
Alternatively, if you’re into the “pure Google” software experience, the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL for Verizon will come with $200 gift cards.
As for smartwatches, if you want something newer than the Gear S3, the Samsung Galaxy Watch is confirmed to receive an outright $70 discount, dropping the $330 MSRP to $260, while the Apple Watch Series 3 family will be getting an $80 price reduction across the board. No Series 4 deals, unfortunately.
