A while back, rumors surfaced that T-Mobile was prepping a new choose-your-perk add-on system, likely tied to a new plan. Follow-up reports confirm that direction, along with details on a plan called T-Mix.
The new plans
T-Mobile was reportedly going to announce T-Mix last week, but the launch has been delayed.
According to The Mobile Report, the plan centers on a point system that lets subscribers redeem points for specific benefits.
The current eight-line limit for AutoPay might not apply to the plan, allowing you to score a per-line discount across your entire account.
T-Mix will allegedly have three tiers: "Standard," "More," and "Loaded."
T-Mix Standard will start at $65 for a single line and include unlimited talk, text, data, and 50GB of premium data. The price per line decreases as you add more lines: $105 for two lines, $130 for three lines, $155 for four lines, $180 for five lines, capping out at $205 for six lines. Customers won't be able to exceed six lines on this plan.
T-Mix More, the next tier, will start at $85 and come with unlimited premium data and 60GB of hotspot. It's similar to Experience More, but $5 cheaper if you need just one line.
The highest-end variant will be T-Mix Loaded. One line will be $105, and the plan will come with unlimited premium data and 250GB of hotspot data, bringing it in line with Experience Beyond.

Except for the single-line pricing on More, the More and Loaded plans are priced the same as Experience More 2.0 and Experience Beyond 2.0, respectively.
T-Mobile may also introduce a new "Essentials Saver 3.0" plan, which will be capped at two lines. It will start at $55 and cost $100 for two lines. The plan will come with 50GB of premium data.
T-Mobile will likely also offer segmented 55+, First Responder, Military, and Student versions of these plans.
A new currency
According to Reddit user desterpot, the T-Mix plan will employ a new method for promotions and benefits called "picks." Apparently, the more lines you add or the higher your plan tier, the more picks you earn. That's crucial because T-Mobile will use picks to measure how valuable a phone deal is. For instance, a deal offering a free new iPhone with trade-in might cost three picks, but a mid-tier phone could cost two picks. Lower-end phones won't require any picks.
You'll also be able to spend your picks on perks, including a collection of upcoming digital, audio, gaming, and AI subscriptions.
The math

The picks system won't be straightforward. For instance, while users on T-Mix Standard will get one pick per line and be limited to four picks, T-Mix More will give customers two picks per line for the first three lines, then one pick per line after that for up to 12 lines.
Subscribers on T-Mix Loaded will get the most picks per line for up to 20 lines.
Then there's the question of how picks spent will be accounted for and whether they will be renewed after a certain time. It's also not clear if customers might be allowed to abandon a perk to free up picks for a phone promo.
It's not known whether the pick system will also extend to customers on legacy plans.
T-Mobile is expected to announce the new plans toward the end of this month. The carrier has allegedly already started testing them in select local stores.

Is this a step forward?
T-Mobile continues to throw strategies at the wall to see what sticks.
In January, it announced the limited-time Better Value plan, and axed it in August, shortly after refreshing Experience 2.0 plans.
While the new plans are reportedly tax-exclusive, the return to a three-tier system and the removal of the AutoPay limit are promising signs.
The mix-and-match perks program mirrors AT&T's and Verizon's models, and allows customers to have a say in what they want, rather than saddling them with extras they will never use.
