Sony Xperia XZ2 or XZ2 Compact: which one would you buy?

So, Sony has a new set of flagships — the pocketable Xperia XZ2 Compact and the shiny Xperia XZ2. Unlike other “mini” or “lite” phones, the Compact makes no compromise in terms of hardware — it's a heavy-hitting top-tier phone through and through, with an HDR display, stereo speakers, Snapdragon 845, 4K HDR video recording, and Sony's super slow motion on board.

Well, it does pass up on some of the features of the bigger XZ2, like a glass back and the Dynamic Vibration System. But it makes up for it with a lower price tag — we expect the XZ2 compact would cost about $200 less than the Xperia XZ2.

Though, the bigger sibling still has more RAM, wireless charging, and... well, a bigger screen. It might be a tough call. Which of these would you buy?

I normally go for bigger smartphones. But since the XZ2 compact has the same resolution display as it's bigger brother XZ2, then I would definitely go for the compact version this time.

Neither. Great hardware and excellent company but dated designs.

Yes. I'm looking at that "None". I hate both of them. Nothing alike Sony. I will keep my Xperia Z5 Premium and Xperia XZ Premium as long as their batteries last. Not My Sony.

What does 6GB of RAM do for you, besides draining the battery fast and being a bragging subject among your friends ? Most Windows 10 laptops run great on 4GB or RAM.

From the link you shared: "2/29 2 AM As of today, UK and American sites also have 4 GB RAM indications returned. It was a mistake ..."

Compact would be a no-brainer for me, if it had Qi.

What a pity!!! Why so fat?!!??!! I was waiting for something cooler than XZ1 Compact, in particular with a better display and thinner.

The iPhone SE needs a competitor. And on top of that, I don't feel like carrying a cell phone as big as a solar panel, might as well "dumb it down" and get a satellite phone if I really have to deal with an oversized phone (or undersized tablet with phone capabilities)

Your comment is exactly how I feel. I have had the SE since launch and it's solid (mostly) but I have been looked for an Android phone that can make me get rid of it. The previous XZ1 Compact was so close but couldn't do it in the end.

With me I went the opposite way, after my 'OG' Z1 compact served me well for so many years, I changed to the iPhone SE after the Xperia started having some battery issues (like draining way too fast and heating up for no reason), and was overall slow after a while. Sony didn't produce a worthy successor of the Z1C and I just went to Apple, who happened to have an enticing deal on the SE back in the day.

I was holding off for XZ2C for more than 6 months but I will not buy a phone without a headphone jack. I know it'll soon happen to all phones but I will not support this trend. If camera isn't improved greatly then there is no reason to buy XZ2 over XZ1

I get this. It seems like the back camera had a slight processing improvement at the most but is that enough?
