If you want flagship Sony headphones, but the price of the WH-1000XM6 brings tears to your eyes, you might soon be in luck! According to the latest leaks and rumors, Sony is gearing up to relaunch an older flagship headphones model, but this time at a much cheaper price!

Sony first launched the WH-1000XM4 back in 2020, and at the time, this pair of flagship headphones started at $349.99. Apparently, the Japanese company is gearing up to relaunch the model under the name WH-1000XM4C.
There are some tweaks to the specs, and a large chunk of that original price tag has been chopped off, alegedly. The rumor started circulating a couple of weeks ago, when the French site Dealabs Magazine shared some info about the upcoming Sony WH-1000XM4C headphones.
Now a German site has corroborated the leak, adding images and further detailing the specs of the upcoming model.

According to both sources, the WH-1000XM4C will come with slight tweaks in the specs department. For starters, the headphones are expected to support Bluetooth 6.0, a generational upgrade compared to the original WH-1000XM4's Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity.
The battery life, on the other hand, is a tad shorter, compared to the originals. The new model can do 27 hours on a single charge with ANC on and 34 hours with ANC off. For comparison, the original WH-1000XM4's were listed at 30 hours on a single charge with ANC, and 38 hours without active noise canceling.

The new Bluetooth standard might have something to do with that, but it's more likely Sony packed smaller batteries to cut the cost. The NFC logo is also missing from the headphones, so that could be another cost-saving move from Sony. And speaking of the price.
The WH-1000XM4C tipped to start at €249.99 in Europe
The revamped WH-1000XM4C headphones are expected to launch in the European Union at €249.99. The original model was much more expensive at €349.99, and if Sony decides to bring the new model to the States, we expect a price tag of around $249.99.
Given the latest model, the WH-1000XM6, launched earlier this year at $449.99, the reissue of the XM4s could be great news for budget-oriented users. $200 off on a pair of flagship Sony headphones is a serious deal, almost half price, compared to the newest model.
