RedPocket Mobile is an MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator), which means that it doesn't own any spectrum, it doesn't have any cell towers, nor does it have any base stations or own any networks. Instead, RedPocket offers wireless service through the basic business principle of buying wholesale and selling at retail.

How RedPocket Mobile offers subscribers wireless service

Like all MVNOs, RedPocket buys wireless service from a Mobile Network Operator (MNO) such as AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile, and sells it to the public at a profit. RedPocket is one of only a few MVNOs that has active wholesale agreements with all three MNOs.

When a new subscriber joins RedPocket, they decide which service they want to use initially:

  • Verizon
  • AT&T
  • T-Mobile

A RedPocket Mobile subscriber can switch among the three at any time.

RedPocket Mobile is now offering some newer Android phones such as the Pixel 11

RedPocket just added what it is calling a "full next-gen Android lineup" to its existing lineup of iPhone handsets. The Android handsets added to the RedPocket lineup include:

RedPocket Mobile offers the following plans:

  • Essentials-$10 per month or $100 per year. Unlimited talk and text and 3GB of 5G premium data each month.
  • Plus-$20 per month or $200 per year. Unlimited talk and text and 20GB of 5G premium data each month.
  • Premium-$30 per month or $300 per year. Unlimited talk, text, and data with 50GB of 5G premium data and 10GB of premium hotspot data each month.

Note that RedPocket can save you up to $60 if you pay for 12 months of service in advance.

I've been hearing that many wireless users have been making the jump from using an MNO like T-Mobile, Verizon, and AT&T to an MVNO. A study run by Juniper Research takes this global and forecasts that the number of global MVNO subscribers will rise from 333 million this year to 438 million by 2030.

Dollar-wise, the US MVNO market is forecast to grow from $46.7 billion in 2026 to nearly $64.7 billion by 2031. This growth will be driven by customers seeking to save some money and have more flexible options.
