There are strong rumors that the upcoming iPhone 18 series phones could be costlier than their respective predecessors. For instance, the iPhone 18 Pro is believed to cost at least $200 to $300 more than the iPhone 17 Pro. It would become clear in the coming months whether the upcoming iPhones are indeed launched at an increased price; however, Apple has already increased the cost of its key services.
Apple Music and Apple One now cost more
Apple Music is probably one of the most widely used Apple services, whose individual plan used to cost $10.99 per month. The tech giant has now increased its pricing across all its plans worldwide. Its individual subscription is now available at $11.99, which is $1 more than its previous price.
The student plan has seen a price increase from $5.99 to $6.99. Lastly, the family subscription, which used to cost $16.99 per month, is now priced at $19.99, meaning there's an increase of $3. Apple reportedly cites the rise in licensing costs as the reason behind the price increase of its Apple Music plans.
Apple One subscription pricing has also been changed. The Family plan, which used to cost $25.95, is now available at $27.95, and to get the Premier plan, you will now have to pay $39.95, which is $2 up from its previous price of $37.95. The individual plan is seeing no change, and it will continue to be available at $19.95.
iCloud prices are also no longer the same

In addition to making the Apple Music and Apple One subscriptions costlier, the tech giant has also raised the subscription price of iCloud in 8 countries, including Nigeria, Turkey, Vietnam, Japan, Egypt, New Zealand, the Philippines, and Indonesia. Prices remain the same in other nations.

In Turkey, for instance, the 50 GB iCloud plan is now available at 49.99 TL, which previously used to cost 39.99 TL. Nigeria has seen the biggest price change, with the company charging ₦1,300 for the same 50 GB plan that was previously available at ₦900. Apple decided to adjust the price of one of its most used services because of currency fluctuation. For reference, the Japanese yen, Nigerian naira, Turkish lira, and all the other respective currencies of the mentioned countries have weakened in comparison to the American dollar over the past year.

Apple: from poking Spotify to actually walking on the same path itself
Apple introduced its music service back in 2015 and has increased its price only twice since then. The first increase was in 2022, and the second is now. While its main competitor, Spotify, has also increased its subscription cost only thrice since its launch in the US, all of them have happened in the last three years.
The first happened in 2023, then in 2024, and then finally in 2026. When Spotify increased its subscription cost this year, Apple Music sort of poked fun at the streaming service by posting, "Btw, we're still the same price." Interestingly, just a few months later, Apple itself has raised the subscription cost of its music service.
Many users on platforms like Reddit believe that the post was actually a clever move from the company to grab some new users before actually following the same path. Whether that's actually true or not, we might never know, but it's definitely worth knowing that an Apple Music subscription costs less than Spotify's even after the price adjustment. For reference, the Spotify individual plan is available at $12.99/month, whereas Apple Music now charges $11.99 monthly.
This might be just a beginning
Most of the Apple products have seen price adjustments in recent times. For instance, MacBook and iPad prices were recently increased because of the ongoing memory chip shortage. Crucial services like Apple Music and iCloud have also become more expensive.
While the iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods have not seen any change in their price tags at the time of writing, I don't think Apple would be able to hold off for much longer if the ongoing memory chip shortage continues. The upcoming iPhone 18 series is already rumored to cost more.
