The ultra-affordable Fire HD 10 is clearly not the world's most elegant tablet. | Image by Amazon
You know how most tablet manufacturers (including heavyweights like Apple or Samsung) tend to upgrade their products once every 12 or 18 months? Clearly, Amazon doesn't adhere to a "traditional" launch schedule, sometimes replacing old Fire generations with new ones after one or two years and sometimes going up to three years before refreshing a 10-inch slate... without telling anyone.
Here's everything that's new about the 2026 Fire HD 10
4GB RAM.
That's it, that's the whole list. The only thing that separates Amazon's latest tablet "built for relaxation" from the 13th generation Fire HD 10 released all the way back in 2023 is an extra gig of memory. No wonder the e-commerce giant didn't hold a special event or even publish a press release to announce this "new" device.
How important is a tablet's RAM count for you?
In fact, this 4GB RAM-packing Fire HD 10 variant is still advertised as a "2023 release", and curiously enough, if you search for "fire hd 10" on Amazon.com, the first four results are all old 3GB RAM models. It's almost like the device maker doesn't want anyone to know about the existence of a slightly better 10-incher with a slightly higher price point.
At least it's affordable
Look, I'm obviously not going to try to convince you that you're dealing with one of the best tablets in the world here, but it's certainly... something to see Amazon not only resist the industry-wide price hikes caused by rising memory chip costs but actually release a new version of a relatively popular existing slate with... more memory.
Amazon Fire HD 10 (2023)
One of the most affordable Android-based tablets around can now be had with a respectable 4GB RAM count in addition to a... not-great 32 gigs of internal storage space, a pretty decent octa-core processor, and excellent 13-hour battery life. You will need to live with lockscreen ads and go for a single black color option if you like the price of this new Fire HD 10 variant.
And while the 3GB RAM-settling Fire HD 10 (2023) starts at $139.99, adding a gig of memory on top of that only sets you back an extra 15 bucks. The catch? You can't get the slightly higher-end tablet without lockscreen ads or with more than 32 gigs of internal storage space, which is pretty terrible for this day and age.
What about all the other specs?
10.1-inch display with 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution;
Octa-core processor clocked at up to 2.05 Ghz;
microSD card slot for external storage expansion up to 1TB;
Up to 13 hours of battery life;
9W power adapter included in the box;
5MP rear-facing camera with 1080p video recording support;
5MP front-facing camera with 1080p video recording support;
3.5mm headphone jack;
Dual integrated speakers;
Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac;
Bluetooth 5.3;
USB Type-C 2.0 port;
246 x 164.8 x 8.6mm dimensions;
433 grams weight;
Black color.
Once again, I'm not going to try to oversell what's clearly one of the humblest Android-based tablets around. But by Amazon Fire standards, that Full HD screen is definitely not bad, and for its ultra-low price point, the Fire HD 10's battery endurance claim is pretty solid as well.

One very important detail to take into consideration is that, while Fire tablets are technically based on Android at their core, you won't get the full Android experience or unrestricted Play Store access here, so if you care about that (which you absolutely should), it might be a good idea to also consider budget-friendly devices from other brands.
So what are the best alternatives?
Well, you can buy something like Samsung's Galaxy Tab A11+ at a regular price of $299.99 with 6GB RAM, 128GB internal storage space, and a 90Hz refresh rate-capable 11-inch LCD screen in tow. Or you can go for a $179.99 Lenovo Tab One with a more compact 8.7-inch display, 64GB storage, and 4GB RAM.

But the Fire HD 10 holds a very clear advantage over the former device in its extreme affordability while obviously eclipsing the latter as far as screen real estate is concerned... for folks who care a lot about that. Ultimately, of course, the decision is all yours, but no matter how subtle, it's certainly nice to see such an ultra-low-cost tablet get a 2026 upgrade without a 2026-style price increase.
