Xiaomi's CEO says to expect a new Note device on June 29th
Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has announced on his Weibo page that a new Xiaomi Note device will be announced on June 29th. Considering that the Xiaomi Mi Note and Xiaomi Mi Note Pro have just been released, the new phone most likely won't be a sequel to either handset. Besides, the follow-up models for both the Mi Note and Mi Note Pro are expected to feature the yet to be released Snapdragon 820 SoC under the hood. The current models are driven by the Snapdragon 810 chipset.

Perhaps it is the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 that will be seeing the light of day on June 29th. This model could feature some specs recently spotted on the TENAA website. What was leaked was a device with a 5.5-inch screen featuring a 1080 x 1920 resolution, driven by a 64-bit MediaTek MTK6795 SoC and featuring a 13MP camera on back and a 5MP snapper in front.

Outside of the MediaTek chipset, these specs perfectly match what we have listed for the Redmi Note 2. We feel pretty comfortable saying that the phone being unveiled on June 29th will be the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2. We will know for sure two weeks from today. Recently, we showed you what was said to be a series of leaked photos showing the handset. Start the countdown!
