Xiaomi Redmi 2 gets price cut in India to $95 USD
Yesterday, when Xiaomi India and Redmi India released a teaser, we gave you two options. Either the Xiaomi Redmi 2 would be cut in price by the equivalent of $16 USD and be listed at $95 USD, or the Xiaomi Redmi 2A would launch in the country with a $95 USD price tag. Either way, the cost of either device would be the 5999 rupee hinted at in the teaser.

With reports trickling in from India this morning, it turns out that Xiaomi had been promoting a permanent price cut for the Redmi 2 after all. The handset is now available for its new low price at online stores like Mi.com, Flipkart, Snapdeal and Amazon India. Color options are Grey or White.

The Xiaomi Redmi 2 comes with a 4.7-inch screen, carrying a resolution of 720 x 1280. That works out to a pixel density of 312ppi. Under the hood is a 64-bit Snapdragon 410 SoC, which contains a quad-core 1.2GHz CPU and the Adreno 306 GPU. 1GB of RAM is inside along with 8GB of native storage. Those seeking additional memory can access the 64GB capacity microSD slot. On back is an 8MP camera with a 2MP shooter in front. Keeping the lights on is a 2200mAh battery, and Android 4.4.4 is pre-installed.

Now that the mystery of the teaser is solved, we will keep our eyes peeled for Xiaomi's next big move in India.
