Xiaomi Mi 4c to feature infrared port?
On September 24th, the Xiaomi Mi 4c is expected to be unveiled. The actual launch of the device is rumored to take place on October 3rd, with only 100,000 units being produced by the manufacturer. Two variants of the phone will be offered, one with 16GB of native storage and 2GB of RAM. The other will come with 32GB of storage inside, and 3GB of RAM.

According to a posting on Weibo, the Mi 4c will not only come with a Type-C USB port, it will also come with an infrared port to be used for security, not for connectivity. The handset is expected to be priced in the area of $200-$220 USD, and could be considered a stop gap until the long awaited Xiaomi Mi 5 is finally launched. We could see Xiaomi's new flagship unveiled on September 24th along with the Mi 4c.

Back to the Xiaomi Mi 4c. The handset is expected to feature a 5-inch, 1080 x 1920 resolution screen. That works out to a pixel density of 441ppi. Under the hood is the Snapdragon 808 SoC carrying a hexa-core 1.8GHz CPU, and the Adreno 418 GPU. A 13MP camera is on back along with a 5MP front-facing shooter. Keeping the lights on is a 3000mAh juicer, and Android 5.1 is pre-installed with MIUI 7 running on top.

We're looking forward to the 24th to see what Xiaomi has to tell us about the infrared port. That's just two weeks away.

Thanks for the tip!

Why it's just 100000 units...

Because there is no 100,000 units in total. This article quotes a relative unknown site and that site mentioned the Chinese weibo account, but the user of that Weibo account has not mentioned that there will be only 100,000 units in total, the first batch it is.

They don't need to copy anything. 3D Touch is known in Adroid world since at least 2012. Apple is the best at selling somone else's ideas.

The infrared port is most likely used to control the TV or airconditioning or other elektronics (just like on the note 2), not for security. The Chinese source did not say anything about that, only that there will be an infrared port. Again, he used the same source about the 100,000 units in total, but the Chinese source did not say that there will be only 100,000 units in total.

If this had USA band support I would take this over the new Nexus 5.
