Will AT&T launch the Sony Ericsson Vivaz?
Back in February, we reported that the Sony Ericsson Vivaz U5a had made it through the FCC. To refresh your memory, the Vivaz is powered by Symbian S60 5th edition and has an 8.1MP camera with AF and 720p HD recording. The touchscreen is 360 x 640 and is said to be scratch resistant. No Snapdragon here. Instead, the Vivaz runs on a 720MHz processor with PowerVR SGX graphics, Wi-Fi and integration with Facebook and Twitter. An 8GB microSD card is pre-installed. The images and documents from the handset's trip to see the Feds has been released and the news is that in the diagrams, the device was branded with the AT&T name and logo. In the User Guide (FCC employees have so much fun) were references to AT&T Navigator, AT&T Maps and AT&T FamilyMap. Since a few months have gone by since the Vivaz visited the FCC, the window for a launch on the operator seems to be getting smaller and smaller. Still, at this point, the odds favor seeing this device joining the lineup of the nation's number two carrier.
