Verizon sends out an update for the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 edge
For the first time since it released the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 edge, Verizon has pushed out an update for the handsets. The new software version is VVRU1AOD5 and includes a few new goodies for Big Red subscribers sporting one of these two models. One of the new features gives you the ability to make drawings in the photo editor. There are also some layout changes to HD Voice Calling options.

Besides those minor additions, the update also exterminates some bugs that have afflicted the two models. Keep in mind that even though this update is a minor one, and the file is not massively sized, you still might want to be connected to a Wi-Fi network when starting the updating process.

Since the update is being sent out OTA, it is going out in waves. That means that even though Verizon has started pushing it out today, you might not see the update hit your phone for a few days. So if it doesn't come today, there's no need to call John Stratton (Verizon's CEO). Be patient and before you know it, you'll be downloading and installing this update on your Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 edge.

"you still might want to be connected to a Wi-Fi network when starting the updating process. " What? You can't update Verizon's phones via WiFi. if you think you can, pull the SIM out and see what happens. You must download VZW updates using the cellular connection and VZW does not use your data plan for updates. You should know this but I guess you don't. if you don't want to use your phone, if you installed the VZW Software Upgrade Assistant, then yes your PC will download the update over your internet connection and then you can update your phone. But all VZW updates that come on your phone, cant be download via WiFi.

That's actually wrong techie. I do it all the time at work. As a matter of fact I JUST did it on a Galaxy S4 with no sim card. Also downloading update for my S6 now. I really like the ability to draw on a photo. Was going to look for an app to do that.

Just in time! my edge was having issues rotating the screen (it wasn't rotating at all) and this update fixed that. I was literally gonna go exchange it for an M9 today too ha

Why, the m9 is junk with even more problems

The M9 isn't the best spec wise, by far, but I'm the type that I care what my phone looks like, and the M9 is a great looking phone

Verizon is working hard to keep your customers up to date. We all know that the delays in proceedings is the fault of the companies and Verizon wants to be free of sin, good job ...

I also have VVRU1AOE2. i can't tell if mine was updated. My S6 was rooted, and I couldn't get the update OTA, so I tried via USB. Now, my phone is no longer rooted, but it says my phone is up to date. Can anyone confirm it is?
