Verizon launches GizmoTab, an Android tablet for kids

Verizon has just announced that starting December 1, customers will be able to purchase its new GizmoTab, an Android tablet for kids.

But there's more, as Verizon states that any customer who activates the tablet on its 4G LTE network will receive unlimited access to 300 premium learning apps curated by educational experts.

These learning apps feature iconic brands and characters that children love, including Crayola, DreamWorks Animation, Hasbro, The Jim Henson Company, Highlights for Children, HiT Entertainment, National Geographic, Sesame Workshop, Toca Boca and more.

Specs-wise, the GizmoTab is a decent tablet, which sports an 8-inch display that supports HD (720p) resolution. On the inside, the slate packs an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor, coupled with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of storage (expandable up to 128GB via microSD card).

Customers can take pictures with the GizmoTab since the tablet comes with an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, as well as a secondary 5-megapixel camera in the front. The tablet runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow and it's powered by a 5,100 mAh battery.

It's also worth mentioning the GizmoTab comes with a removable bumper to protect it against drops, scratches and bumps. Additional colored bumpers and kickstands will be available at Verizon to personalize the tablet.

The GizmoTab is available at Verizon's online and brick and mortar stores for just $79.99 with a new two-year activation. For a limited time, customers who buy the GizmoTab will receive a gift card to one of the following: Toys R Us, Barnes & Noble, or The Gap.
