UK carrier Virgin Media O2 is giving many customers more HD TV channels for free
Sometimes, you just want to sit on your couch and watch TV after a long day at work. And now, if you are a Virgin Media O2 customer and have a TV service with the Player, Mixit, or Mix TV package, your viewing experience should be even better.
As the carrier announced in a blog post, TV customers with these packages can now watch a range of popular channels in HD quality at no extra cost. Furthermore, users will automatically receive the upgrade, so they won't need to do anything in order to acquire the new channels.
After the upgrade, customers with the Player or Mixit package will have access to these seven HD channels: Film4 HD, More4 HD, E4 HD, ITVBe HD, ITV2 HD, ITV3 HD, and ITV4 HD.
As for those with the Mix TV package, they will be able to watch not seven but 17 new channels in HD quality. The new channels are: E! HD, Sky Arts HD, Sky Comedy HD, Sky Crime HD, Sky Documentaries HD, Sky Max HD, Sky Nature HD, Sky News HD, Sky Showcase HD, Sky Sports Mix HD, Sky Sports News, Sky Witness HD, Sky Sci-Fi HD, Cartoon Network HD, TCM Movies HD, Nickelodeon HD, and National Geographic HD.

In its blog post, Virgin Media O2 also notes that customers with a Virgin TV 360 box might need to reset their series link once they receive the new HD channels if they have recordings of TV shows in SD. Also, Stream customers won't receive the channel upgrade because HD is standard on Stream.
