The Serendipity S7 is an upcoming bezel-busting phone that won't be available in a store near you
Ever heard of Serendipity? It's OK, we haven't either. It's, obviously, a China-based smartphone start-up that is aiming quite high with the smartphone that it currently has in the pipeline - the Serendipity S7, a device that will most probably pack some of the thinnest side bezels ever graced the front of a smartphone.

These will allegedly measure just 0.7mm in thickness - in Serendipity's camp, thin is totally in!

The semi-official bezel-busting phone is not out yet, but the manufacturer just spilled the beans and provided some information about its device, as well as some real-life photos of the handset. Specs-wise, there's nothing impressive on-board: it'll don a 5.5-inch 1080p 2.5D display, a Snapdragon 400 MSM8928 chipset, 2GB of RAM, some 16GB of native storage, a 13MP rear / 5MP front camera and a 2600mAh battery to keep the lights on.

Yes, specs are nothing to write home about, but the highlight and main selling point of this handset will be the sleek bezels. These look quite nice, but because of it the manufacturer has been faced before some production issues. As a result, the S7 is said to arrive in limited quantities at first.

How limited, exactly? Well, it's said that merely 2000 units for the Chinese market have been manufactured as of now, which is quite a lowly quantity. As a result, we are quite pessimistic that the start-up will succeed to bring the S7 in a market near you anytime soon.

This is the second device flaunting the S7 name (Elife S7 was first).. Didn't Samsung patented the entire S lineup?

No, they didn't. If Samsung wants to patent the entire S lineup, they need to ditch the "Galaxy" name first, like LG ditched their "Optimus" name and patented the entire G lineup.

You can't patent the name. A trademark is possible. With all these worthless patents being spouted by companies I guess confusion is possible.

Yeah, I meant to say trademark. But somehow he made me say patent lol.

I don't think you can patent a single letter...

Yeah, yeah.. I meant trademark.. So maybe they could trademark "Galaxy S" plus the number.. Did I get it right? Otherwise it coulld transform into the "Candy" situation from King...

The back design is kind of similar with the two stripes at the top and bottom... But that's pretty much it. The flat frame doesn't match the iPhone 6 design codes anyway.

Well who inspired more, Samsung or Apple?

It took me some time not to read "Serenpidity", which woud have made for a wonderful portmanteau name.

Given the SoC, it might be enough. Possibly.
