The ASUS ZenWatch 3 may finally get compatibility with regular 22m wrist bands and straps

The ASUS ZenWatch 3 is a good-looking smartwatch with an aching pain point. You can't put a strap you actually love on it, unless it's made by ASUS. That's because the company uses a system of its own to secure wrist straps to the smartwatch, which greatly limits the choice of available bands for it.

Well, if ASUS isn't coming to its senses anytime soon, others will. SteelConect, a company specializing in wrist adapters for smartwatches, is creating one for the ZenWatch 3. Called the AZ3, it fits right onto the smartwatch's lugs and lets you attach any ol' 22mm band or strap laying around. Talk about giving the people what they want!

Alas, the contraption is being funded via Kickstarter, but with a goal of mere $6000 in cash, the campaign is going to blow past that pretty soon. When it launches in July (that's the plan, at least), the AZ3 will cost around $40. You can back it now and pay a fair bit less.
