Telstra: Samsung Omnia W and LG c900K soon to get update to Windows Phone 7.8
Australian carrier Telstra put up some new information on its website that showed that Windows Phone 7.8 will soon be pushed out for the Samsung Omnia W and the LG c900K. The update for Sammy's phone was approved by Telstra on May 6th while the model made by fellow Korean OEM LG got the green light 9 days later. Both phones are expected to see the update pushed out on June 6th.

Windows Phone 7.8 is an update for Windows Phone 7.5 owners that gives their handset some features from Windows Phone 8 such as resizeable Live Tiles, the Bing lock screen Wallpaper of the Day and 20 new themes. Earlier this year, one report had Samsung all ready to roll out Wi-Fi tethering with the Samsung Omnia W's Windows Phone 7.8 update, so those Telstra customers with the model should be on the lookout for that feature to be added following the update to the new OS build.

Unfortunately for owners of the HTC Titan on Telstra, the Windows Phone 7.8 update is only on its second round of testing after being approved on February 14th by the Australian carrier. Problems related to Live Tiles with the update have caused a delay with updating this model. Microsoft is investigating the matter and a new firmware submission has been submitted. No date was given when owners of that handset can expect the Windows Phone 7.8 update.

Also coming next month to Telstra subscribers, on June 3rd the Samsung Galaxy S II will receive Android 4.1. A pair of Android updates are scheduled for a week later with the LG Optimus Black receiving Android 4.0.4 and the Samsung GALAXY Note getting updated to Android 4.1.
