T-Mobile rolls out Android 7.1.1 Nougat update to the Nexus 9
Android 7.1.1 Nougat has been around for less than a week now, but not all supported Nexus and Pixel devices received the update. Obviously, the unlocked units have already been updated to Android's latest version, but owners of carrier-branded devices are still waiting for Android 7.1.1.
The same goes for the Nexus 9 tablets at T-Mobile, which has just received the highly-anticipated update. The Un-carrier even confirmed that Android 7.1.1 Nougat is now rolling out to the Nexus 9.
T-Mobile mentions that along with Android 7.1.1 Nougat, those who install the update on their Nexus 9 tablets will also get the December security patch. Some bug fixes are included as well, and that's about it.
It's unlikely that the Nexus 9 will be getting any other major OS updates like Android Nougat, since the tablet is more than 2 years old, but maintenance updates will probably continue to come to the slate for some time.
If you happen to own the T-Mobile Nexus 9, make sure you check for the update in case it hasn't been pushed to your tablet yet. According to the carrier, the update has been rolling out since December 16, so many Nexus 9 slates should have already captured it.
